Malcolm

The company founder and managing director of LeadingSchs2success Ltd is Malcolm Willis.

Malcolm is a highly experienced and successful educationalist who, prior to founding LeadingSchs2success, was a headteacher with fifteen years’ experience of leading and transforming two very different schools. He was headteacher of a large, high performing, co-operative, specialist academy from September 2005, which was judged by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ in October 2010. During that time the student population grew significantly, become highly diverse with an increasing number of children eligible for Free School Meals.

Malcolm’s first role as headteacher was in South Wales where he created a new school from the closure and amalgamation of two former secondary schools following his appointment in January 2001. The school was unique in Wales in being the secondary school with the highest percentage of pupils on free school meals at that time. Under Malcolm’s leadership the school received an excellent inspection report in April 2004.

Malcolm has a very wide experience of teaching in schools having been a head of English, a head of house, a senior teacher and a deputy headteacher. In addition to his work in schools has remained engaged with higher education and has both a Master’s Degree in Education and a Doctorate. His doctorate examined the role of head teachers and specifically the ethical dilemmas that they faced in their daily work.  His research pointed to the need for more thorough training, development and support for headteachers, particularly in their early years.

Malcolm is now a self-employed school adviser and consultant.  He is passionate about education and its ability to enable children to achieve beyond their dreams.

In addition to his work through LeadingSchs2success Ltd Malcolm works as a Challenge Adviser in Wales, is a Learning Development Adviser for The Futures Leaders Trust, works for the Department for Education as an Education Adviser and is currently undertaking the Professional Qualification for School Inspectors through Middlesex University and Tribal to become a qualified Ofsted Inspector.
